The re-examination, conducted for a specific cohort in Jaipur, was a testament to NBEMS’s commitment to addressing logistical challenges and ensuring fairness. Understanding the Benchmarks: Cut-off Marks and Percentiles Explained
Beyond the individual results, NBEMS has also released the category-wise cut-off marks and percentile scores, providing a clear understanding of the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. These cut-offs are crucial for candidates to gauge their performance relative to others and to understand their chances of securing a seat in their preferred postgraduate program.
)
The following table outlines the minimum qualifying criteria and the corresponding cut-off scores for NEET-PG 2026:
)
| Category | Minimum Qualifying/ Eligibility Criteria | Cut-Off Scores (Out of 720) |
|---|---|---|
| General/EWS | 50th percentile | 262 |
| General PwBD | 45th percentile | 244 |
| SC/ST/OBC (Including PwBD of SC/ST/OBC) | 40th percentile | 226 |
These cut-off scores represent the minimum marks a candidate needs to secure to be considered eligible for admission to postgraduate medical courses. It is important to note that meeting the cut-off does not guarantee admission, as the final selection will depend on the merit list, seat availability, and the counseling process conducted by individual states and institutions.

The Road Ahead: Scorecards and Answer Key Availability
Candidates can expect to download their official NEET-PG 2026 scorecards from the NBEMS website on or after October 1, 2026. In addition to the scorecards, NBEMS will also be publishing the NEET-PG 2026 answer key on or after October 1, 2026. This move will allow candidates to cross-verify their answers, calculate their estimated scores, and gain a deeper understanding of the examination’s marking scheme. The applicant login portal will provide access to Question ID numbers, correct answer key IDs, the response IDs marked by the candidate, and the scores awarded for each question. This transparency in the evaluation process is a significant step towards building trust and ensuring the integrity of the examination.

The Crucial Role of State Merit Lists and Reservation Policies
While NBEMS conducts the national-level entrance examination and releases the results, the subsequent stages of the admission process, particularly for State Quota seats, are managed by the respective State and Union Territory authorities. These authorities will be responsible for preparing the final merit lists and category-wise merit lists, taking into account the applicable eligibility criteria, regulations, guidelines, and reservation policies mandated by the government. This decentralized approach ensures that the admission process is aligned with the specific needs and policies of each region, while still maintaining a national standard for entrance qualification.

The NEET-PG 2026 examination plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical specialists in India. The successful completion of the examination and the subsequent declaration of results by NBEMS mark a significant step for thousands of aspiring doctors.
